Winter fishing tips

Winter fly fishing is something I love to do. Although the fishing can be more difficult, having low pressure, quiet streams are tranquil.

What are some of your tips for successful winter fishing?

Layers. Good layers that wick sweat.

Good point. Quality layers are important.

Go small on the flies. 22’s or smaller have been good for me.

Agree on the small flies. Especially on tailwaters.

Use light tippet. If you usually use a 5x in that area go down to a 6x.

Absolutely this. Smaller the better in winter.
